Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy that uses specific massage techniques that help to stretch and realign the fascia, and release those knots and tension that exist throughout your body. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Myofascial release is considered a form of deep tissue massage as it penetrates directly into the connections that the fascia has with the muscles, tendons and bones. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation, increased range of motion, realignment of the body, and relief from pain.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Chair massage, all done while you are clothed on a specialized ergonomic chair that I bring conveniently to either your home or workplace, is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension. Usually chair massage is done within a shorter time frame as traditional disrobing is unnecessary, thus encouraging a significant physical and mental health benefit to easily fit in during your busy work schedule.
Acupressure - is based on one of the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. Shiatsu heavily rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy focuses on specific energetic meridians mapped along the body that carry the life force, blood, energy or "Chi"; therefore its massage techniques help to open up areas where chi has been blocked causing pain, tension, and poor circulation. In an acupressure / shiatsu session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation as well as some stretching, compression and quick rhythmic movements, which can feel both energizing and relaxing at the same time. These simple and powerful techniques have been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.
Swedish Massage, one of the most popular forms of massage, or what you would think of as a Spa Experience" is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Aromatherapy- the utilization of specific essential oils and their unique aromas, and therapeutic properties to enhance your overall healing, relaxing experience.
Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.
"The mind influencs influences the body and the body influences the mind"- Somatic Therapy. Often we hold our deepest emotions and significant memories literally in the fibers of our being, i.e. connective tissue of our body, which are reflected in our body language, posture and also expressions. Sometimes, past traumas can manifest physical symptoms like pain, digestive issues, immune system dysfunction, depression, anxiety and addiction. This transformative session merges guided imagery and meditation, stretching, and art making to open greater paths toward healing and awareness of body/mind connection.
